Job Description.

Civics & Public Policy Program Coordinator

1. Program Development

  • At times, program coordinator may help design new programming that aligns with current curriculum. These program additions can help increase the educational experience of the girls in the program.

2. Curriculum Review and Identification

  • We are constantly assessing our set curriculum to ensure that it is still meeting the learning goals of our students. Program coordinators help with this process by reviewing curriculum to ensure that it is still meeting the needs of our students.
  • While reviewing curriculum, Program coordinators help identify additional supplemental resources like handouts, models, and field trips that might be helpful with student learning.
  • Program coordinators help identify new financial literacy curriculum that will complement our current curriculum offerings.

3. Curriculum Planning Review

  • We want to make it as easy as possible for people to volunteer with our organization. Given this desire, we try to ensure that each lesson that needs to be taught has the following for teaching volunteers: a lesson plan for each unit, class handouts, student notes, assessments and homework.
  • Program coordinators review each lesson to make sure that the aforementioned documents have been completed and if something is missing, work with our team to help complete the necessary documents. Program coordinators also help with the standardization of those documents as well.
  • Program coordinators also help our team map out the lessons that need to be taught over the course of the school year to make sure the bulk of our curriculum can be effectively delivered.

4. Assessments

  • Program coordinators will help us review pre/post assessment for different financial literacy curriculum we are using throughout the year.
  • Program coordinators will review exit tickets for each lesson being taught
  • Program coordinators may sit in on classes to assess the volunteer and provide feedback to the volunteer about their class.

5. Teaching and Volunteer Assessment

  • If you are interested, Program coordinators can teach the class to help make sure we can maintain our curriculum delivery schedule.
  • Program coordinators may sit in on classes to assess the volunteer and provide feedback to the volunteer about their class.

6. Additional Notes

  • The position requires you to be on site to observe classes and to assist with other position specific responsibilities.
  • This position will require 10-15 hours per week.
  • We are looking for candidates who can stay for the majority of the academic school year (September through June)

Civics & Public Policy Program Assistant

1. Program Support

  • Program assistants prep any materials that teaching volunteers need to be able to teach for the week. This may include making copies, scanning textbooks and compiling materials necessary for class.

 

Civics & Public Policy Teacher

1. Teaching

  • Volunteers teach financial literacy curriculum provided by Super 7 Girls program staff
  • Volunteer(s) would be working with the girls in the 3rd - 9th grade.
  • Volunteer(s) would be teaching in separate classrooms
  • Our curriculum is taught twice a week
  • More specifically, curriculum is taught on Wednesdays and Fridays during our programming which is from 3:30pm-6:30pm
  • The curriculum is taught in one hour sessions
  • Types of curriculum topics: needs vs. wants, opportunity costs, zoning, barter system, interview skills and more!

2. Training

  • We recognize that everyone does not have prior teaching experience and to help support our volunteers we have a comprehensive volunteer teacher training
  • Typically, our training sessions are 2-days and occur on a monthly basis
  • All volunteers must successfully complete all components of the training session to volunteer with Super 7 Girls

3. Volunteer Expectations

  • All volunteers are required to teach at least three days a month
  • Volunteers must clock-in for shifts to ensure their monthly teaching goals are met
  • Volunteers must be at least 15 minutes early for their class
  • Volunteers must be prepared for their class
  • Volunteers must participate in continuing education classes and any touch base meeting with Volunteer and Intern Relations Team
  • Volunteers must attend at least one social event each quarter.

Required Qualifications.

  • College graduate or graduate student
  • Background in social justice awareness, community organizing, public policy, advocacy or other related fields
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working with kids

Preferred Qualifications.

  • These positions are unpaid. These can be a volunteer positions or internships. We are happy to discuss internship requirements.
