ElectionU is the creation of two young Americans who wanted to change the current political system in the U.S. The 2006 campaign season leading to the fall 2006
elections provided a time of mudsling and confusion. The creators of ElectionU felt more confused on the issues, what the effects of the issues would be, and where each
politician stood. After many conversations with people across their home town, they realized they were not the only ones confused. So they dreamed of a way to change the
process. They created ElectionU.com with several goals all set to create an equal playing field for politicians, educate and create understanding in the populous, and
bring all sides of politics together in one place.
What is ElectionU's mission?
The ElectionU mission is to create a free social network for the politically minded, an educational resource to educate all voters, and a campaign tool that can
bring voters and politicians from all sides together. They want voters to be able to debate issues and learn from those with opposing viewpoints so that one day we can
find the middle ground for every issue that faces our country and the world.
How does ElectionU accomplish their goal?
ElectionU accomplishes its goals in several ways. First it provides a forum for the debate of issues which are created by members. The members. participation is
really what drives the site. Members can create issues, join political action committees, research news on candidates and issues, and follow the politicians in their
area. Further they can communicate with politicians and watch politicians debate.
ElectionU also provides politicians with a free campaign tool. Local politicians who usually could not afford a website can now use ElectionU to reach out to
voters through the internet. Politicians and members have a calendar of events that they can add to and follow.
What is ElectionU News and how does it work?
ElectionU news is a consolidated source for all your news needs. It is arranged by topics and gathers stories from multiple sources. So you may select one top,
such as health care, and see stories on this topic being drawn from many news sources like CNN, Fox News, the Associate Press, the Washington Post, and more. This way
you can see how all of the news agencies are covering the same topic. You no longer have to go to each news source.s website to search for the topic you want to read
about. Instead you can find everything in one place.
Does ElectionU support any specific party?
No, ElectionU is a nonpartisan site. We want to bring together the political views of the entire nation no matter left or right. The idea is to create a meeting
of the minds in order to solve the problems individuals and our country is faced with today. This can only be accomplished by ElectionU staying neutral and drawing in
members to create this change.
What is the deal with the Ads?
ElectionU is a free website to members and politicians. So to keep it free to the public and politicians we allow a certain amount of advertising. The ads have
no connection with the content of the site although some ads may be of a political nature. We use the revenue from the ads to keep the site up and running, and to
continually improve it. We believe ElectionU can change the face of American politics by education voters and giving them a place to discuss the topics that plague our
nation.
What are ePACs?
Simply, PACs are groups created and joined by members. You can create an ePAC for any organization or assembly or people. The goal of this function is to bring
people with similar stances, similar areas, or support groups for a politician or issue together. We call them ePAC because they are similar to PACs in the real world.
PACs, or Political Action Committees, are created to support or fight against issues and politicians that will be on the ballot. Unions, companies, and other
organizations are often the creators of PACs in the real world. However, in the virtual world of ElectionU anyone can create an ePAC for free.
How do I create a profile?
Profiles are created through the registration page or the Join Now link on the home page. Fill out the given fields and then summit. Once submitted, an e-mail is
sent within seconds that includes a confirmation link. If you do not receive this e-mail within a matter of moments, please check your junk folder in your e-mail. When
you click the link in the email it will activate you account. Once activated you can search members, politicians, and issues, as well as create issues and debate them
online.
I do not see a national or local politician I support on the site. How do I get them on the site?
ElectionU is still growing so we may not have every politician you would like to see on there. However, contact us through the .contact us. link on the top of
the home page and send us the names of the politicians you want to see on the site. We will work to get them an ElectionU page. We do control all setup of politicians
and candidates to insure that there are no fake sites posting wrong information or false candidates. Politicians get to run their own site, so the content is theirs to
control. We will try to keep up with all requests for politicians, but it may take some time to get everyone signed on.
